Welcome to the Ekadasi Recipes Cook Book.

Ekadasi is a special fasting day observed by devotees of Lord Krishna.
Ekadasi days fall about every 2 weeks and in addition to following a pure vegetarian diet
(no meat, fish, eggs, mushrooms, onions or garlic) there is the added restriction of refaining from eating any grains, peas or beans.
Such austerity is said to be greatly beneficial to ones devotional life.

While it may seem that
following a Hare Krishna diet is restrictive enough, to take away grains, peas and beans as well would make cooking almost impossible.
But as you'll see by looking at the recipes and menu suggestions, devotees not only eat well on Ekadasi day, they can also have a feast of many wonderful, delicious, nutricious and tasty preparations.

There are lots of ideas here for various levels of Ekadasi cooking, ranging from the quick and easy to more gourmet style preparations.
Just look down the navigation bar on the left hand side to find mouthwatering recipes in a variety of categories.

Each recipe has been tried and tested for taste and reliability by great Hare Krishna devotee cooks.
So please dive in, have a go and share the results with others.

But remember, the most important ingredient is the love and devotion you put into preparing and offering these dishes to the Lord of Ekadasi, Sri Krishna.
